Why I restarted my loc journey

Bonjour everyone, long time.. I know.

Lately I decided to comb out my 4 year locs, and start over.I have thought about redoing my hair for a long time, and quarantine gave me the perfect excuse to jump start the process.

Combing out my locs was the hard part,It took me 4 days to remove all 96 locs. Here is the link for that blog post ↓↓↓

I restarted my new loc journey using the two strand twist method yet again because it is the easiest method for me to do.I went from having 96 locs to 164.I also did not focus on making parts this time around either because I hate parting my hair 😅.

3 Reasons I Restarted my locs

Fuller hair (Loc thickness)

As my locs grew ,I started to realize my hair didn’t look as full as I wanted it to.When I say full I mean ,seeing no gaps between my locs when I wear my hair down.

Going from the double digits to triple digits was a big step, and based on my starter locs I’m hoping my hair looks fuller when my locs mature.

Product buildup

Whew ! I had so much product buildup at the roots of my locs, and it seemed that no amount of Apple Cider Vinegar could remove it all.It was so bad that when I would wet my hair, my roots would be white because of all of the buildup.

With my new set of locs I plan to use only water, oil, and aloe vera gel in my hair to avoid product buildup.

Loc breakage

I made a total rookie mistake when I first got my locs by rushing to decorate them with loc jewelry.Later on when my locs matured the parts that where covered in loc jewelry were still very soft, and almost loose.

The hair was so loose it ended up breaking off when I tried put my locs up in a ponytail.

Throughout this journey, I have learned patience. I have learned to be thankful for the past, live in the now, and keep high hopes for the future. Starting my loc journey was one of the craziest things I have done, and I have never felt better. I hope to inspire and give other courage along their loc journey as well. I will share tips, stories, inspiration from time to time. Thank you for following along with me.
