If your locs could talk what would they say ?

Hey y’all !

So I have one question 🙋🏾‍♀️ :

What is your hair saying to you?

I know this is a weird question but just think about it. If your hair could talk would it tell you when it is dry? Or will it tell you when it needs to be washed?

Nope, but I will explain some ways to tell what your hair needs.

Are your locs stiff?

You most likely need to wash your hair with a good clarifying shampoo. Most of the waxy loc products that are out on the market aren’t good for your locs. They tend to harden and cause your locs to become stiff. Dirt and buildup from products can cause your locs to get really dirty fast, and make it hard to style your locs . Make sure you clean your locs properly and regularly. I also suggest an Apple Cider Vinegar rinse!

This was my very first time doing an ACV rinse, and from here you can see how much product buildup I had in my hair that I couldn’t even see on the surface of my locs. I suggest doing this rinse as many times until you get all of the dirt out of your locs.

Are your locs crunchy ?

When you touch your hair does it feel rough? When you squeeze your locs do you hear a lot of crunching noises? If so, your hair is dry! When your locs are in this state they are prone to breakage. Try a conditioning treatment on your hair. I personally try to deep condition my locs at least once a month. My favorite deep conditioner is by a company called EDEN BodyWorks

This product works really well, and leaves my locs moisturized and soft. If you don’t have the time to do a full hair treatment, you can even just make sure you spray and oil your locs daily to improve the feel of your hair. I use rose water and castor/argan oil blend on my hair.

Are your locs breaking off at the ends, or shedding more than normal?

Leave your hair alone! If your locs are breaking off that means you put your hair under too much stress. Your locs can even break off after years of you putting gradual stress on your hair. Stop over twisting your locs, ringing them like a towel, and forcing them into tight and uncomfortable styles. Just let your hair breathe. This could also be caused by dry hair as well.
